Finding a Fit

As a young adult I thought I was setting myself up for a bright future going to cosmetology school right after high school and building my own business… but my body had other plans. When it came time to face the music and admit to myself that cosmetology in any form wasn’t going to work out in the long term. Between the hours on your feet, the constant up and pulling motion with your arms and ALL the chemicals and odors from a huge chunk of the products that I can no longer tolerate to use or even be around. And it was hard to come to terms with, I worked my butt off, paid for school all MYSELF, worked full time and when to school full time for almost 3 years. I studied, tested, passed, and got my license and I’ll never give it up… I worked too hard for it. But I must move forward, so I did some soul searching and LOTS of research on many different career paths. I made list after list and ended up going with the very first thing I wrote down, Photography!!

I’ve always loved photography and known the importance of a photograph and what kind of magic they hold. Photographs have the power to take you back to a memory, a feeling, and help you remember what truly matters… your family and the beautiful, wonderful, goofy, memories you create with them. I truly love capturing those moments and pushing the pause button for families so whenever they want it or need it, it’s always right there and can be passed down for generations. Photography has always been a passion of mine but I use to let others’ fears rule my life. So with my body’s new direction and the love, support and encouragement from my inner circle (my most trusted people) I set off to chase my dreams and believe in myself no matter what stood in my way, even if that person was myself (I am hands down my toughest critic). I dove into research for any and all things photography. From permits and licenses to be able to work at specific locations to contracts, posing, lighting, knowing how to edit the photos you take, how to deliver your product to your client. All the equipment, gear, and software you need to have and how to market, run a successful business, there’s a lot more that goes into it than people realize. In my down time I study, research, and learn all that I can to be the best that I can be!!

With my cosmetology background you safely put your hair and make up into my hands and I can pamper you before your shoot! I still love doing hair, but with MCAS I need to have as much control over my environment as I can. So if you’re that pregnant lady that wants Maternity photos but doesn’t have the energy to curl her hair or put on make up, I can do it for you! Or maybe that Mom with 4 kids needs some assistance getting herself and kiddos ready, I can do that for you! I’m a planner, perfectionist, and a little goofy so we’ll have fun while we get you ready and take your photos. I love to make people feel beautiful and give them confidence and courage to go after their dreams, photography allows me to do that for my clients and helps me get to know them on a deeper level. As I go down this new path I hope to inspire others to go after their dreams, to take the pen back to their own story, to remind you not let the fears of others stop you from doing what you love and to believe in yourself, because at the end of the day the only one in your way is you, and your mindset.
